A group of model railroaders from southwestern Montana has begun the process forming a model railroad club. During the past few months, the group has been visiting other clubs and their layouts to understand layout construction and group organization. To date, the group has visited the Livingston Depot club layouts, the Idaho Fall's Eagle Rock Historic Society modular layout, a private home layout in Idaho Falls and the Helena Train Fair. The summer plans include a trip to a private layout in Cascade.

The member's interest is in predominantly two main areas, Lionel O gauge and HO gauge. The group's current focus is on developing an HO gauge National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) compatible modular layout in the south baggage room of the Dillon Depot. Recently, we have developed a plan for a small Lionel "Tinplate" O gauge modular layout along one wall of the train room. A larger O Tinplate layout is expected to be built in conjunction with the Womack Toy Museum at a later date.

Interested parties are urged to participate in these preliminary meetings and help develop the club's operating plan. The next meeting is planned for August 23, 2001 at 7:00 PM at 502 South Washington, or contact Headwaters HOtrak for more information.
